This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect during the website beta, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. Read it with our Terms of Service.
1. Summary
We do not collect location data of any kind. The Beta Service has no GPS, no location permissions, and no automatic activity tracking. Every result is typed in by a user.
We collect a display name, username, date of birth, email address and password to create your account, plus anything you add to your profile and the results you record.
Your profile is public by default, and by default you appear on global rankings, can receive friend requests, and show your friends list. Your age is private by default. You can change all of these in your privacy settings. See Section 8.
Some information about you is created by other users — for example when an opponent submits a head-to-head score. See Section 3.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not serve targeted advertising.
You can access, correct, or delete your data at any time. Deletion is permanent.
Beta data may be reset or deleted as part of development. See Section 12.
2. Information You Provide
Account information: display name, username, date of birth, email address and password credentials. Email verification is required before your account becomes fully active.
Profile details, all optional: profile photo, bio, the sports or activities you play or follow, and your city or state.
Privacy settings: your choices about profile visibility, global rankings, friend requests, friends list display, and whether to show your age.
Activity data you enter: results you record manually, such as times, scores, strokes, routes with grade and attempt counts, match outcomes and point differentials, together with the sport, date and any venue you type in. Supported activities include but are not limited to running, climbing, golf, pickleball and roundnet.
Social and competitive data: leagues and groups you create or join, friend connections and requests, challenges you schedule, and badges you create.
Communications: messages you send through the Beta Service, feedback and bug reports, and correspondence with us.
3. Information We Receive From Other Users
Some information about you is created by other people. This is a normal consequence of a competitive, social product and we want it stated plainly.
Head-to-head scores. When an opponent submits a final score, that submission is information about both of you. It becomes a recorded result only after you confirm it, but the submission is stored while pending so you can review it.
League, group and challenge entries. When someone creates a challenge and lists you as a participant, or adds you to a league, that entry contains information about you.
Friend requests and connections. When someone sends you a request or connects with you, that creates a record involving both accounts.
Information created about you by another user is treated as your personal information and is covered by your rights under Section 9.
4. Information We Generate About You
We create some information about you rather than receiving it: points, rankings, standings, win-loss records, point differentials, streaks, personal bests and any comparisons or statistics we display. We generate these from results you and other users record. Generated information is treated as your personal information, though correcting it usually means correcting the underlying result rather than the calculation.
5. Information Collected Automatically
Device and usage data: browser type, operating system, IP address, timestamps, error logs and basic usage analytics.
Cookies strictly necessary for authentication, security and session management. See Section 10.
6. We Do Not Collect Location Data
The Beta Service does not collect, track, infer, store or display your device location. It does not request location permission from your browser, does not use GPS, and does not record routes, distances travelled, or where an activity took place.
City or state on your profile is different. If you choose to add a city or state, that is free text you typed, not location data we collected. It is optional, you can remove it at any time, and it is visible to anyone who can see your profile — which, by default, is anyone. It is coarse by design: we do not ask for, derive or store a street address or any more precise location.
We do not derive location from your IP address for any purpose other than security and fraud prevention, and we do not retain IP-derived location.
7. How We Use and Share Information
We use information to create and secure your account, verify that you meet the minimum age, operate profiles, leagues, friend connections, challenges, score confirmation, leaderboards and global rankings, calculate standings, send service messages, investigate cheating and abuse, respond to support requests, improve the Beta Service, and comply with law.
We share information only as follows:
With other users, according to your privacy settings and league memberships, as described in Section 8.
With our service providers. We use Supabase for database hosting, authentication and transactional email, and Netlify for website hosting and content delivery. They process data on our behalf under contracts that limit them to providing services to us. We do not authorize them to use your information for their own purposes.
For legal reasons, where required by law or legal process, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to prevent death or serious harm, to protect any person's rights, safety or property, or to investigate a violation of our Terms.
Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will give notice before your information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
Aggregated and de-identified information, which can no longer reasonably be linked to you. We commit to keeping it de-identified and not attempting to re-identify it.
We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not serve targeted advertising.
8. Who Can See Your Information
Please read this section carefully. The default settings make most of your profile visible to other people.

Visible to members of a league or group you join, regardless of your settings: your display name, username, profile photo, and your results and standing within that league.
Never visible to other users: your full date of birth, email address, password, IP address and device information.
Your age. Your age is private by default and is not shown to other users. If you turn on the display age setting, your age in years becomes visible to anyone who can see your profile. Your full date of birth is never shown to other users at any setting, and we do not use it for anything other than confirming you meet the minimum age.
Search engines. Where a profile is publicly viewable, it may be indexed by search engines and may appear in search results. Search engines keep their own caches, so a profile can remain visible in results for a period after you make it private or delete it. We cannot control or accelerate that.
You can change any of these settings at any time in your profile. Changing a setting to be more private stops future visibility but does not retrieve information someone has already seen, saved or screenshotted.
9. Your Rights and Choices
We extend the following rights to all beta users regardless of state. This is broader than any single state requires and is simpler than sorting users by residence.
Know and access — confirm whether we process your personal information and obtain a copy, including categories collected, sources, purposes and recipients.
Correct — have inaccurate personal information corrected.
Delete — have your personal information deleted, as described in Section 11.
Portability — obtain your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
Opt out — opt out of any sale, any sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, and any profiling producing legal or similarly significant effects. We do none of these.
Withdraw consent — withdraw any consent you have given at any time.
Non-discrimination — we will not remove your access or degrade your experience because you exercised a privacy right.
Appeal — if we decline a request we will explain why and give you a route to appeal. We respond to appeals in writing within 45 days and will tell you how to contact your state attorney general if you remain dissatisfied.
To exercise a right, contact goatgeneleagues@gmail.com. We respond within 45 days and may extend once by a further 45 days where reasonably necessary, with notice. We will verify your identity before acting. An authorized agent may submit a request with proof of authorization. We honor browser-level opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control.
California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know, delete, correct, and limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell or share personal information, so no “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” mechanism is currently required; if that changes we will publish one. Residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws — including Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Virginia and a growing number of others — have equivalent rights, all of which are provided above.
10. Cookies
The Beta Service uses cookies that are strictly necessary for authentication, security and session management. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not permit third-party advertising trackers. Because we use only strictly necessary cookies, no consent banner is required, though we will publish one if that changes.
11. Deletion
DELETION IS PERMANENT AND IRREVERSIBLE. WE CANNOT RECOVER, RESTORE OR REINSTATE A DELETED ACCOUNT OR ITS DATA UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
When you delete your account we remove your profile, account details, recorded results, badges, connections, league memberships, messages, points, and rankings and history from our active systems within 45 days. The limited categories that survive are listed at Terms of Service Section 17.4, and confirmed head-to-head results involving other users are anonymized rather than erased so that the other participant's record remains accurate.
If your profile was public, search engine caches may retain a copy for a period after deletion. We cannot control that.
12. Data Retention and the End of the Beta
We keep account and activity information while your account is active. Because this is a beta, we may also reset, recalculate or delete beta data as part of development, as described in Terms of Service Section 2.

If we end the beta, we will tell you in advance where reasonably possible. We will then delete beta personal information within a reasonable period unless you have an account in a later version of the service and we have told you your data will carry over.
13. Consumer Health Data
Some states regulate a broad category of “consumer health data” that can include information about physical activity and fitness which would not usually be thought of as health information. Depending on how those laws are read, some of what you record here may fall within that category.
We collect activity information only to provide the features you use: recording results, calculating standings and rankings, and displaying your history.
We do not sell consumer health data and would not do so without a separate signed authorization from you, which we do not intend to seek.
We do not use it for advertising and do not disclose it to advertisers or data brokers.
We share it with our service providers only as needed to run the Beta Service.
You may withdraw consent and request deletion using the contact in Section 16. Deletion is subject to the permanence described in Section 11.
14. Security
We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data, including encryption in transit, access controls and logging. No system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We will notify affected users and regulators of a breach of personal information as required by the breach notification law of each affected user's state.
15. Location of Processing and Minimum Age
We process and store information in the United States. The Beta Service is intended for United States residents only.
The Beta Service is for adults. It is not directed to anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we hold information from someone under 18, we will suspend the account and delete the information. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, please contact us.
16. Changes and Contact
We may update this Privacy Policy. Because the Beta Service is under active development, changes may be frequent. We will post the updated policy with a new effective date and give advance notice of material changes by email or through the Beta Service.
